PANASCO 9 – A Regional Conference of  SSVP

Pan Asian Congress/Conference is a SSVP regional conference of member countries/territories of Asia and Oceania. At present, there are 32 member countries / territories in these two continents. The objective of this regional conference is to produce realistic outcomes that will enhance our charitable works with those we serve, to provide a platform for members (Vincentians) of different places to share experience, knowledge and future goals so that we learn from each other on how to better serve our little brothers and sisters in need. The conference also provides an occasion for members to demonstrate our solidarity and renew our faith.  Since 1968, PANASCO has been held eight times in various cities of the regions with great achievements, such as:

  • members from Asia and Oceania growing closer;
  • substantial increase in “Twinning” activities within these two continents;
  • member countries working together to expand SSVP by setting up new conferences and new member countries.

It is indeed a journey of love and development for all Vincentians.

The SSVP is a charitable institution of a humanitarian and social nature. Founded in 1833 in Paris by a group of university students led by Blessed Frederic Ozanam. The SSVP is a non-profit making international Catholic organization of lay men and women, inspired by St Vincent de Paul, whose primary mission is dedicated to serving the underprivileged and the needy, including the elderly, through direct person to person contact.  The Society operates with the approval of the Holy See and with the blessing of the Hierarchy. The Society was admitted to the ECOSOC (United Nations Economic and Social Council) as a non-governmental organization in March 2012. This consultant status gives non-governmental organisations such as the SSVP access not only to the ECOSOC but also to many of its subsidiary bodies. The SSVP Council General is the administrative centre of SSVP as a whole. With its head office in Paris, France, it represents the association around the world, organises international meetings among countries, gathers information and distributes funds. It is also the guarantor of the spirit of SSVP and ensures respect for the Society’s Rule.
